A Small Room (also known as The Park)
By Melodie Corrigall
little lady
sitting on a park bench
small cloth purse
clutched against her side
staring through her weary eyes
at the life
around
home is a small room
dusty with memories
noisy with traffic going somewhere
one the second-hand bureau
are photographs
sister Ellen at graduation
a young bride and groom
Mickey when he was ten
everyone is dead now
everyone except the bride
over the sink hangs
a calender
with spaces to fill in
events of importance
and every space
is empty.
上英文课时学到的,是首很悲伤的诗。事实上,大多数时都是悲伤的,因为人们开心时不需要发泄。
